Busy Mom Meal Tips

If you read my blog then you know I’m very busy with my 3 kids. I wish we could make dinner a nice evening, cooking together, but that’s not going to happen. We are always rushing from one practice to the next. I like to have meals that are quick and easy or something I can put in my slow cooker that morning. Most of the time we don’t even get home until 8 and we need to eat soon so the kids can get to bed. Here are some things I do to make sure I’m prepared for dinner every night.
Busy Mom Meal Tips
- Plan ahead I sort of make a menu. I usually make a list of things we will eat during the week, but I don’t assign the day we are going to eat it. I like that I’m able to be flexible with my meals.
- Have food on hand I make a grocery list and make sure I have everything I’ve planned at the house. The worst thing is running to the grocery store at 8 at night when everyone’s starving. I make sure I have enough food for the meals I’ve planned. This is the best time saver!
- Be flexible Don’t get hung up on the details. I like having a bunch of different items that I can mix and match. I like having a variety of vegetables and meats on hand so I can make changes. Sometimes my kids want a certain vegetable like Birds Eye Steamfresh® Flavor Full. The flavor is great to have when I’m making a plain chicken. It spices up our meal!
- Have a backup Even though I have my meals planned, things happen. I always like to have extra items not on the “menu” that I can use. This is great when I run out of an important ingredient or we’re just not in the mood for the last item on the list.
I recently tried Farm Rich® Smokehouse Mustard Pork BBQ (from the freezer section at Walmart) and this was so good and delicious! It only took 8 minutes in the microwave and dinner was served. When we got home from football practice, I threw it in the microwave while my son took a quick shower. The table was set and food was on the table by the time he came down.
My son grabbed these great Birds Eye Steamfresh® Flavor Full Teriyaki Broccoli to serve with it. However, I wouldn’t suggest this combination, they were both great. They have a Sour Cream and Onion Potatoes or Buffalo Cauliflower which would have gone great with the BBQ sandwiches. My son REALLY wanted the teriyaki and who was I to discourage vegetable eating.
