Homemade Split Pea Soup

Don't you just love homemade soup on a cold day? This is a great recipe and takes less than an hour.
  • ½ onion, chopped
  • 2-3 carrots
  • 2 celery stocks, chopped
  • 1 lb split peas
  • 6-8 cups chicken broth, depending on how thick you want your soup
  • 1½ cups chopped ham
  1. Sauté onion, carrots, and celery in a little olive oil for 5 minutes.
  2. Add ham and broth and bring to a boil.
  3. Add rinsed split peas and lower to a simmer.
  4. Simmer for 30-60 minutes.
