Family Time with Tweens

This post brought to you by DICK’S Sporting Goods . The content and opinions expressed below are that of Keeping Life Sane.

I have two tween boys and I hear about sports constantly.  It’s seems like we can’t have a conversation in our house that doesn’t involve some sort of comment on a “sick” catch from the last game they watched or why a quarterback didn’t throw for a hail Mary.  I didn’t know much about football growing up, but now that’s all I hear about now. A lot of our family time with tweens consists of watching a good game on TV.

Family Time with Tweens

Both my boys play football so I’m learning about positions and plays, things I never thought I would be talking about.  They think it’s great they have to teach me!  Most the time I’m still fooled by a trick play and still don’t know what an on side kick is.  We spend a lot of time talking about professional players and teams.  They laugh at me when I get a player’s name wrong or think they are on a different team.  They look at me like I’m crazy.  We spend a lot of quality time around the TV during football season.  Each boy has a favorite for every game. Every birthday and Christmas they have a new jersey they want.  My son LOVES Drew Brees.  My husband is from Philadelphia and I’m from Tennessee so I’m not sure how he came to like someone who plays for New Orleans (See I am learning something).  He’s even #9 on his football team! Sometimes family time with tweens wasn't what I thought it would be. My family spends a lot of time in front of the TV watching football! Of course being living near Charlotte we own a few of these. Luckily, there’s a DICK’S Sporting Goods right up there road that can help us with most any jerseys we need.  We’re practically in there every week for equipment anyway!  My boys are always browsing and adding more items to their wishlist.  DICK’S came up with a fun tool that tracks jersey sales called the Jersey Report. You can see what jerseys are the highest seller- almost like a NFL popularity contest.  My husband is a huge Eagles fan and I noticed that they had a player jump onto the top 10!  I didn’t know who he was, but my husband made sure to tell me what everyone was buying his jersey!  In case you’re wondering it was Carson Wentz!  Drew Bree’s was 37th for the year (so far).  My boys could spend a lot of time playing around with this!  You can sort by offense, defense, 30 days, season and more.
