I don’t know about you, but you can probably tell, from how much I post on here lately, that I’m so tired of cooking. I’m having to think about food for breakfast, lunch and dinner (because of virtual school) and I haven’t had much joy in planning a menu or grocery shopping.

This healthy meal is easy and you probably have all the ingredients in your pantry already so just go ahead and add it to your weekly meal plan.

It’s great to make on Fridays during Lent and then keep it up throughout the entire year.

EASY Tuna Patties with no eggs

These have always been popular in our house and don’t take much time to make. They go great with a side of green beans or even on top of a salad. I love them leftover for lunch the next day.

I’m allergic to eggs so I don’t cook a lot with them. My kids love eggs for breakfast though. Not sure how that happened! The binder that holds these patties together is the milk. Keeping eggless items from falling apart is always a challenge in making things like this, but this recipe turned out fantastic.

Ingredients for egg free tuna patties

Canned Tuna fish– You’ll want to get the 5 ounce cans of tuna in water and drain the water out.

Bread crumbs– This recipe calls for Italian bread crumbs. I like using these because it comes with the added spices for flavor. If you are allergic to eggs, make sure to check the ingredients on your bread crumbs. I know this from experience!

Green onions– Your chopped green onions will go in the mixture and can be used on top for extra flavor.

Milk- The milk will help bind it all together.

How to make tuna cakes without eggs

Step 1

Drain tuna fish and dump them into a medium-sized bowl.

Step 2

Add the milk, finely chopped green onions and bread crumbs. Stir until well combined and form eight equal-sized patties with the tuna mixture.

Step 3

Add oil ( olive oil or vegetable oil) to a skillet over medium high heat. When hot, cook tuna patties for 3-4 minutes, flip and cook another 3-4 minutes.

Tip 1

Make sure to cook these until they are nice and brown. If you flip them too early, there is a possibility of them falling apart. You need that nice brown crust on there.

Tip 2

These taste fantastic, but I love to add a little sauce to them. The white sauce that you see in the photos is just sour cream and dill mixed together with a bit of salt and a squeeze of lemon juice. You really can’t mess it up. Taste it as you go.

Kitchen tools to make eggless tuna patties

Stainless Steel Bowl– I love these bowls. This is a 6 piece set that comes if different sizes. They also come with lids.

Wooden Spoon– I love wooden spoons and use them all the time. I think I have about ten in my drawer.

Nonstick pan– I normally cook with stainless steel pans, but I have a nonstick pan I use for a few things and this is one of those recipes. It just makes it a little easier, but you can use either kind

Rubber Spatula– If you are using a nonstick pan, then make sure you are using a rubber flipper. You don’t want to ruin your pan with a metal one.

These turned out great. One of them almost broke as it cooked but I salvaged it!

These are delicious! I was nervous to try it, and I substituted milk for Greek yogurt (add more Greek yogurt to get it to more of a paste). I am amazed! I used Greek yogurt as the sour cream as well and added dill. Super easy and super delicious!

Hi. With an allergic grandson, these look great. Two questions: is it ok to cook them in the oven? any hints? Also, I assume there's no problem in using regular onion? thanks a lot Sue.

Regular onion should be fine. I've never tried cooking these in the oven. I would recommend cooking them according to the directions.
