30 Day No Soda Challenge

I know, I know…I’ve have been so bad about putting up new posts.  May is such a busy month with field trips, sports, and school testing, and communions and now swim started this week! On top of all that, I started a 30 day no soda challenge.

I try to eat healthy and feel I’m pretty good most of the time.  However, I love soda and specifically Coke.  Probably about 15 yers ago, I realized I needed to slow down on the soda and wanted to have kids and knew that wasn’t the healthiest thing.

I was drinking 2 or 3 cans a day and would always do my grocery shopping at the grocery stores with the best soda deals, so I weaned myself down to 1 a day and only after noon and noticed better sleep and just felt better overall.

I got down to one every few days or just when I ate out and felt that was pretty good.  Recently, I noticed I was drinking more and more and was starting to get back in that pattern where I was drinking one a day again and was really starting to crave it.

I would run out to the gas station or Walmart (You can get one for $.50 in the vending machine there) and grab one.  I started to get the feeling that I needed more and that one a day wasn’t satisfying me so I decided to do a 30 day no soda challenge.

30 Day No Soda Challenge

Can you get addicted to soda?

Yes!  Some people may addicted to caffeine, while other people are addicted to sugar.

Why is soda bad for you?

If you’re here and going to take part in the challenge, then you probably think you drink too much soda already.  I really don’t have to tell you all the bad stuff, but I’m going to anyway.

  • Sugar can lead to diabetes.
  • Sodas are high calorie and will cause you to gain weight.
  • Sodas are bad for your teeth and hurt your tooth enamel.
  • You may have trouble sleeping or have higher anxiety levels.

This is just a few reasons not to drink soda.  I’m not a nutritionist and there are a ton of other bad reasons too.  Just google it!

Tips when you’re craving a soda.

  • Drink sparkling water, smoothies, tea, coffee, or juice.  I know a friend that has this and loves it!
  • Avoid eating out where you would normally order a soda.
  • Avoid going to places that you can purchase soda.
  • Go for a walk.
  • Change your routine.
  • Have a support system to help you when you think you need a soda.  My kids are the best at this.

I made this cute printable and my kids love when I do things like this and make sure I don’t fail.  My daughter helps me mark out a soda can each day.

I’m on day 5 of not having any soda. Just water. I have your sheet taped to my fridge. I’m looking forward to getting to 30 days and seeing if I’ve lost any weight.

I found your site and love all the printables. I really like the soda challenge. Do you have one for sweets? or Chocolate? I am using your soda one as my sweets one. Best of luck in 2020!
