I’m allergic to eggs and so many salad dressings contain eggs. I like eating salad, but sometimes I’m so tired of eating it plain or with a vinegarette.
I have to make a lot of dips and dressings since so many contain mayonnaise. I’ve experimented with all different kinds and this is mayo-free ranch dressing is a family favorite.
This recipe is NOT vegan! It contains lots of dairy!
Eggless Ranch Dressing Recipe
I have a great blue cheese salad dressing here and someone commented if you could make an egg free ranch dressing! You can! I never realized I’d never written up my recipe. You CAN make ranch dressing without mayonnaise!
I usually do eggless desserts so other eggless recipes often slip my mind or I just don’t think of adding them here. This is also a great ranch dip for your veggies.
My kids love eating those vegetable trays from the grocery store and it’s a good way to snack on healthy foods. However, they are so expensive! I bought this Rubbermaid veggie tray and it’s been AWESOME! I can fill it up with vegetables we love. It even comes with a little container for the dip and this eggless ranch dip is perfect for this! I put hummus in it too, for my husband!
Ingredients for this easy ranch dressing
I’ve tried eggless mayonnaise before but I’m not a huge fan of it. It’s probably because I’ve never eaten anything like it before so this recipe does not have it. Having both the yogurt and sour cream balances out this recipe.
- Sour cream
- Greek yogurt
- Buttermilk- You can make buttermilk from regular milk but I suggest buying real buttermilk.
- Chives- You can use dried, but fresh is used in this recipe. Make sure to reduce the amount you use if you decide to go with dried chives. You’ll want to reduce the amount to 1 teaspoon.
- Dried dill weed
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Dried parsley
- Salt and black pepper
Yes, this recipe calls for buttermilk and I know a lot of people don’t normally buy this so here are a couple of more recipes that have buttermilk so it won’t go to waste.
How to make homemade ranch dressing and eggless ranch dip
Step 1 (and only step)
Add all your ingredients to a small bowl and stir well. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. I like to use jars for salad dressing storage.
NOTE: Some people like their dip and dressing at different consistencies. Start with adding 1/4 cup buttermilk and stir. Slowly add in another 1/4 cup to get it where you like it.
I suggest and made mine with 1/4 cup buttermilk for a dip and 1/2 cup buttermilk for dressing.
Your ranch dressing will usually last a week. Check the expiration date on your dairy products.
