I don’t make sugar cookies much because it requires a tad more work than other cookies because you’re rolling them out. This recipe is perfect because you don’t need a rolling pin OR cookie cutters.

Eggless Sugar Cookie Recipe- Only 4 Ingredients!

If you are new to my site, then you should know I’m allergic to eggs. I’ve been allergic my entire life so I’ve never been able to eat “normal” cookies and cakes.

When I would search for recipes, I would find one that looked good and when I looked closer it would require all kinds of weird ingredients that I never bought and would only use once. So I started making adjustments to regular recipes and was able to eat sweets and desserts too.

After trial and error, I’ve been able to create my own recipes that use ingredients you already have in your pantry.

This recipe only has four ingredients- flour, vanilla extract, butter and sugar!

You won’t want to use the recipe if you want cut-out cookies. They spread too much and won’t keep their shape. This recipe is just a simple round sugar cookie and I have a SUPER trick for them!

First off, take a look at my other cookie recipes. I know you’ll find more you can enjoy.

If you’re like me, then you’re probably on the lookout for more recipes that are egg free.  I hate finding a recipe and clicking on it and it has an egg in it!

I started an eggless recipe board on my personal Pinterest page and then realized that I should probably link it to my blog.  It’s great finding recipes that are egg free and when I need one I can go look and eat everything in it.

I have an EGGLESS Recipe board on Pinterest and there are a ton of great recipes.  You can follow it here.  I pin on it every week because I’m ALWAYS on the lookout for new recipes.

I also have an EGG FREE RECIPE Facebook page that I just started, so there is only one follower right now, me!  (Update:  It’s over 2400 now!!) Go follow over there and I’ll post any good recipes I find!

Tools to make eggless sugar cookies

Baking Sheet– I’ve had these baking sheets forever and love that they are bigger. I can usually get 16 cookies on a sheet when I’m baking.

Handheld Electric Mixer– You can use a stand mixer for this recipe, but you don’t have to get it out if you don’t want to. A simple hand mixer will do fine. I actually use my hand mixer way more than my stand mixer. It’s just easier to get out and clean. Anyway, the hand mixer I linked to above is one I got for a wedding gift over twenty years ago and it’s still going strong and I bake A LOT! I definitely recommend it.

Large bowl– I LOVE stainless steel bowls. They are great in the kitchen for all kinds of cooking and baking. They hold up well and don’t need to replace often.

Ingredients for egg free sugar cookies

Butter– I use salted butter in all my recipes. However, you can use unsalted butter if that’s what you have in your refrigerator. You’ll want to leave the butter out to get to room temperature before you begin.

Granulated Sugar

All purpose flour

Vanilla extract– I love vanilla! It’s gives baked goods such a great flavor. I make homemade vanilla extract and it’s super easy because it only takes two ingredients. You can hop over there to see the instructions on that if you’re interested in making your own too.

Optional- Sprinkles, frosting or icing

Directions for egg free sugar cookies recipe

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add in vanilla extract. Gradually add in flour while continuing to mix.

Step 3

Roll cookie dough into 1 1/2″ balls and flatten with glass cup dipped in sugar. See notes below for more detail.

Step 4

Bake for 10-12 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes, then move to a cooling rack. You can use parchment paper on your cookie sheet if you want to but I just put it on my nonstick pan.

Easy Sugar Cookie Recipe Trick!

First, don’t forget to preheat the oven to 350 F.

Here’s the trick that makes these sugar cookies so easy! See the picture below. Once you roll the sugar cookie dough into the cookie sized ball, you’ll want to lay them on your pan. I do around twelve at a time.

Find a glass cup. You’ll dip the bottom of the glass into your sugar and then press down on the cookie to flatten it out, about 1/4 inch thickness. The sugar will transfer to the cookie for baking.

Hint: The first time you dip your glass into the sugar it won’t stick to the glass. You can dip your glass into your mixing bowl dough to get a little of the grease from the butter. It will help the sugar stick.

Look closely at the image, you can see the sugar on the bottom of the glass.

Tip #1

Take the cookies out, let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet, then use a wire rack to cool completely.

Tip #2

These cookies will get lightly browned on the edges. That’s when you’ll know they’re done.
