Pumpkin Pecan Dump Cake

Pecans aren’t necessary for this recipe, but it gives it something a little bit special that the other pumpkin dump cakes don’t have.

Pecans remind me of the fall and winter. It seems like they are in all kinds of fall and holiday foods and I really only cook with them in those months. They just taste like fall!

Pecans have the highest fat content of any nut, but it’s the good kind of fat. They have protein and vitamin E. They’re a great snack.

My sister-in-law makes candied pecans for my husband every year for a Christmas gift. He loves them! He eats them as a sweet snack or adds them to his salads at dinner.

Kitchen tools to make this EASY Pumpkin Dump Cake Recipe

The best thing about this recipe is that it only requires one dish and you don’t need much to complete it.

Baking Dish– This is a 9″ X 13″ baking dish and the exact one I have. I receieved it as a gift and I love it. It’s nice and heavy AND super easy to clean.

Nut Chopper– You can buy pecans that are already chopped for this recipe or you can chop them yourself. I love these nut choppers. I was always in charge of this when I was a kid.

Bowls– These are cute bowls for serving and like the ones pictured.

Ingredients that are needed for this pumpkin dessert.

  • pumpkin puree – NOT pumpkin pie filling
  • brown sugar
  • vanilla cake mix – Yellow cake mix works too but I used vanilla in this recipe. Some cake mixes contain eggs so you have that allergy, then you’ll want to double check the ingredients.
  • pecans- chopped
  • room temperature butter- I normally buy salted butter so that’s what I used In this recipe. You can use unsalted butter too.
  • evaporated milk
  • pumpkin pie spice
