I’ve been in the soup making mood.  We had 3 snow days last week and nothing is better than hot soup.  This one is so easy and I normally have all the ingredients in my house, so it’s easy to pull together when I’m not sure what to make for dinner.

My homemade bread goes perfectly with this meal too. If you have a breadmaker, then’. you’ll want to put the timer on this too and have this as a side. This soup is full of flavor and the perfect comfort food. The best part is that it can be made on the stove top OR slow cooker!

Ktichen Tools for Tomato Hamburger Soup Recipe

Slow Cooker Liners– If you use your crock pot a lot, then these are essential. They save so much time when cleaning. I’ve broken my crock pot insert and cracked it trying to get it in the sink and wash it.

Slow Cooker– This is the crock pot I am using right now and love it. I haven’t had any problems with it so if you’re in the market for a new one, then I suggest this one. It was inexpensive too.

Cutting Board Mats– I think I put this on almost every single recipe I post because I literally use them every day. These are one of the favorite things I have in the kitchen. They don’t take up much space so they’re easy to store. They’re easy to clean and great for adding ingredients to mixing bowls and hot pots.

Veggie scrubber– These are great for potatoes and carrots. We eat those a lot so this kitchen tool gets used a lot!

Ingredients to make hamburger soup

  • Ground beef- You can substitute this with ground turkey. I suggest using a lean ground beef because any extra fat and grease will end up in your soup if you don’t take the extra step of draining it out.
  • Beef broth
  • Potato- Make sure to peel and cube your potatoes small. I like to use red potatoes in soups because they hold their shape well and don’t get mushy.
  • Peas- I usually use frozen peas, but canned peas are fine, just drain them. You can also use mixed veggies.
  • Onion
  • Garlic- I use the jarred minced garlic to save time, but fresh tastes great too.
  • Canned diced tomatoes
  • Tomato paste
  • Salt and ground black pepper
  • Paprika
