I’m always trying to find ways to make things at home. Most of the time it’s because I run out of something and don’t want to run to the store so I find a way to make it myself. However, this is not the case for the homemade bathtub cleaner. I have asthma and many times it gets aggravated because I’m breathing in all the cleaners on cleaning day. I have been using this great bathtub cleaner for a few years now and love it.

Homemade Bathtub Cleaner
It’s really simple, only 3 ingredients, 4 if you count water.
Ingredients
- 1/2 box of Baking Soda
- 2 teaspoons Dish detergent
- 5 drops of Thieves Essential Oils (You can also use lemon or eucalyptus)
- water
I put the baking soda and dish detergent into a bowl. Add just enough water, while stirring, to make a paste. Add in 5 drops of your Thieves essential oil and stir again. It’s so easy. Usually I just head to the bathroom and spread the mixture out all over the tub. I scrub with a scrub brush until clean and then rinse. I always worry about cleaners being left in there when I (or my kids) take a bath and then we’re sitting in the chemicals, but if any is left, there is nothing harmful.
It smells so good and CLEAN and it doesn’t bother my asthma! The Thieves oil I use is from the Young Living Essential Oils Starter Kit, which is a fantastic deal and you can make all your own cleaning products with the oils that come in that kit.

I am going to make this! My daughter has asthma and terrible allergies so I also hate strong smelling chemical based cleaners!

This is great. Having little ones in the house, I always worry about using such harsh chemicals. Thanks for sharing

I adore homemade household products! Thanks so much for this! Do you think any dish detergent will work or does it have to be Dawn? I typically use Seventh generation, yeah, all natural.

Any dish detergent should do. I used Dawn because that's what I normally use.
