Two of my kids have perfect attendance this school year and the third has missed one day because of traveling. Can you believe it? My three kids have been mostly healthy all school year. It’s a miracle and I’m not one of those people to send their kids to school sick! I started thinking about some of the things that I do that helped make this possible this year. It doesn’t take much to make these few changes.

How to keep your kids from getting sick.
- No SUGAR– When my kids start getting a sore throat and a fever starts, I made sure they don’t get any sugar. Viruses love sugar and keeping sugar out of their diet will make the duration of the illness much shorter.
- Playing outside– My kids love to play outside so it’s nothing I have to force them to do. Even in the freezing cold months. I bundle them up and make them go outside and play and get some fresh air. It doesn’t seem to bother them at all.
- Sleep- When people are rundown it’s the perfect opportunity to come down with something. I make sure we all get plenty of sleep. We have early bedtimes. Yes, we will have some busy weekends and stay up late, but generally we get to bed pretty early.
- Clean hands– I am a stickler for hand washing and hand sanitizing. I keep a bottle in the car so when we get back in from shopping they can clean their hands. I’ve read a few articles about ATM, gas pumps, buggies, and gasoline handles. YUCK! I know a few germs are good to build up immunity, but they are getting plenty from being in school all day.
Do you do any of these too? How do you keep your kids healthy?
