Oven Baked Homemade Chicken Tenders

This recipe can be adjusted to add all your favorite spices.  You can add in an Italian seasoning or make it spicy with some cajun season. My very favorite is Slap Ya Mama. I found this years ago while on vacation in New Orleans, but you can find it in many grocery stores now.

Tools You’ll Need to Make Oven-Baked Chicken Tenders

Cookie Sheet – I do line the baking sheet with foil to make cleanup faster. Just something I do to save cleanup time.

Stainless Steel Bowls– I LOVE stainless steel bowls. They are great in the kitchen for all kinds of cooking and baking. They hold up well and don’t need to be replaced often. These bowls are easy to clean and can even be put in the dishwasher.

Tongs– Makes flipping the tenders easier and less messy.

Chicken tenders are always a hit with kids, and this version is easy and stress free to make.

Ingredients you’ll need

  • Chicken breast tenders
  • Lance Grilled Cheese, crushed- I know this sounds weird! If you don’t have these, then you can use any crackers you have at home. Ritz crackers work well and panko style bread crumbs.
  • Butter
  • Flour
  • Salt and pepper

How to make homemade chicken tenders

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  • Melt the butter in a small bowl in the microwave, about 1 to 2 minutes. Place flour in a second bowl and crushed Lance crackers in a third.  Yes, I know this seems like a lot, but you will not regret getting these bowls dirty.
  • Cover your chicken tender in flour, dip it in the butter, and then roll it in the crackers until the chicken is covered.
  • Place the coated chicken tenders on your prepared baking sheet and put them in the oven. You may want to add a thin layer of nonstick spray.
  • Cook for 15 minutes, flip the chicken, and cook for another 8 minutes or until done.  The temperature should be 165°F.
