My husband and I love fish but don’t eat it as much as we’d like.  It’s so easy and healthy.  Every time we have it for dinner, we talk about why we don’t eat it more.

Update: They’ve recently opened a Costco about four miles from my house and I love it. They offer great deals on seafood and fresh fish so we’ve been eating it a lot more. I actually have several more salmon recipes in my draft folder that I need to complete!

Grilled Chili Honey Orange Salmon

This recipe is DELICIOUS!  The sauce has such a great flavor and you probably have all the ingredients in your house and it’s a quick meal when you’re in a rush.  Make double and eat the leftovers for lunch the next day on a salad!  YUM!

Why eat salmon?

Fish has so many health benefits and salmon is one of the most popular around. It has a mild taste that many people like because it doesn’t taste too “fishy”. It can also be cooked in many different ways.

  • Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids which can lower blood pressure and reduce inflammation.
  • It’s a high protein meat that is low in calories which makes it the perfect food for weight loss.
  • Salmon is high in vitamin B which helps with brain function.

Kitchen items I used to make honey orange salmon

Whisk– I only have whisks that are plastic or coated with silicone because I don’t want to ruin any nonstick items I have in my kitchen. My kids are a little older now and cook more so I learned this the hard way.

Grill Set– This is a great grill utensil set. Do not get grill sets that are made of wood. I’ve had several and they just don’t hold up like the staineless steel ones. YOu’ll need the tongs and spatula for this recipe, but the basting brush is great to have for all kinds of recipes.

Stainless Steel Bowl– I LOVE stainless steel bowls. They last FOREVER! These are great for marinades because of the included lids and different sizes.

How to make orange honey salmon on the grill

Step 1

Mix honey, fresh orange juice, chili powder and garlic.  Pour over salmon and marinate for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Preheat grill to medium heat.

Step 3

Place salmon on greased grill.  Cook for 6 minutes, flip, cooking another 6 minutes.  You may need to cook a little longer or less depending on the size of your fish.

Tip: To grease a grill I just get a paper towel and put olive oil on it.  I use tongs to rub it on the grates.

Step 4

Garnish with sliced green onions.

Notes: If you don’t want to grill or don’t grill you are welcome to cook these other ways.

Baked Salmon- Preheat oven to 375F. Bake salmon fillets in an oven safe dish for about 15 minutes

Pan Cooked Salmon- Place fish in a lightly oiled skillet over medium heat. Cook for about 4 minutes, flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
